Meet Our Staff

  • Foster Ridpath, Coach/Owner
    CrossFit Radford Owner
    I have an undergraduate degree in Physical Education and an MBA in Counseling and Human Development. I was a four sport athlete in high school and played Division 1 baseball at Radford University. Athletics and training have always been my passion and I have been able to work in the fitness field for the past 10 years. I now hope to improve the local community and the college’s wellbeing by starting CrossFit Radford. CrossFit is my persona in a nutshell and I hope to help strengthen people physically and mentally in a sporting atmosphere. I am a certified CrossFit coach, USA Weightlifting coach, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, CrossFit Kettlebell, CrossFit Gymnastics, CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Mobility, and a certified TRX trainer. I was introduced to CrossFit in 2010 and over the past few years it has become how I spend most of my free time - reading, watching, and doing. I love the hopper mentality - never knowing what the WOD (Workout of the Day) will be and the sweaty palms & body that go with it! I look forward to assisting you with your health and fitness goals. We are forging elite fitness.
  • Chris Shelor, Coach
    Chris Shelor
    Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise, Sport, and Health Education from Radford University. Also, holds his Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management. He is a Certified CrossFit Level 1 Coach and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach.

    Chris has been part of many strength and conditioning programs, but none have produced the results that CrossFit has. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 through CrossFit Football and was immediately hooked. He enjoys everyday he can come into the gym and witness athlete’s progress.
  • James Chilton, Coach
    James Chilton
    I am a student at Radford University and will be graduating with a B.S. in Sports Medicine in May 2014 and have been certified as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach. I developed a passion for fitness after an ankle injury in high school lacrosse. During two years of surgeries and rehabilitation, I developed an appreciation for the role fitness and therapy can have in restoring function to the body. The CrossFit communities’ supportive environment and high intensity challenge me physically and mentally. As a member of the CrossFit Radford community, I look forward to supporting others as they pursue elite fitness.
  • Michael Dylan, Coach
    Michael Dylan
    My journey with CrossFit began in 2012 at Virginia Tech's McComas gym. While I was doing the typical gym routine, I noticed some guy doing movements I had never even seen before and working way harder than me. I asked him what he was doing and he told me about CrossFit and promptly invited me to join him. The next day I did my first WOD (workout of the day) with this guy. I nearly collapsed from exhaustion, but I was sold. In a short 15 minute workout two things happened: I challenged myself more than I ever had and became friends with this guy I had just met (his name was Mikey).

    That's what I love about CrossFit, it always provides an opportunity to challenge yourself and it unites people under a common goal.

    After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2013 I joined the CrossFit Radford community, got my CrossFit Level 1 coaching certification in September 2014, and started interning here in January 2015. I hope you'll come check out CrossFit Radford so we can work hard and reach our goals together!

    Jeremiah Dye
    Before coming to College at Radford, I played multiple sports throughout high school. I made the decision not to pursue sports in college and was left with a void in my life. Crossfit became a major outlet for me and within a year I started competing. I love that Crossfit prepares you for any physical challenge in life. I have tried multiple lifting/training programs over the past few years and can honestly say that Crossfit has had the biggest impact on my Fitness and overall well-being. It even led me to the beautiful girl I get to call my wife! It is a great feeling to be a part of a community of individuals who support one another to become physically and mentally stronger everyday!
